Microsoft is turning its XBox 360 more Windows Live Messenger friendly. The upcoming update of the game console, announced for the week of May 7, will provide Xbox 360 owners with access to Windows Live Messenger features through the XBox Live portal.
Most of the updates are enhancements of the current XBox Live features. They include a richer “achievement” notification pop-up to show the gamerscore, or enhanced family settings features for Xbox LIVE communications enabling different defaults for video chat and voice chat.
Xbox users would be able to chat via the virtual keyboard accessible on Xbox 360, or by connecting a USB keyboard to the console. Microsoft is also preparing a QWERTY text-input device, a new accessory that will connect directly into the Xbox 360 controller to support text and instant messaging. The device is expected for this summer.
