Your wireless future, in Europe

Let’s face it: The phones in your pocket is becoming the daily computer, and increasingly replaces your dearest companion, your dog. According to a Business 2.0 fresh write-up, there’s a list of phone and related mobile handheld service that would change the everyday life of the metrosexuals.

Here’s the short non-descriptive version of the Business 2.0 list. Our regular readers are already familiar with some of the names.

  • Productivity: Consilient, Iotum, Popular Telephony, QuickOffice, Soonr.
  • Cheap, VoIP communications: Bridgeport Networks, EQO, Kineto, Skype, Tello.
  • Localization services: Bones in motion, Flagr, Kamida, Plazes, Semacode.
  • Entertainment/Social Networking: MobiTV, MusicStrands, Netomat, Cognima, Sling Media.

As VoIP and Web 2.0 are heating up in Europe ― they’ll get wilder during the World Cup in Germany, we can also start a list of start-ups that provide the same kind of services.

  • Productivity - Ring2: turning the Blackberry handhelds into conference calls remote controller.
  • Entertainment/Social networking - ClicMobile: Get to know if your contacts are within “meeting” range. - vPod: Video service a la You Tube, that can do cellphone-to-cellphone broadcast. - Platial: A mash-up between a social network and a geolocalization service. People are pinpointing their favorite places in a world map and could share their list with others.
  • Localization - Idevio: Recently chosen by a car security company to geolocalize stolen cars.

Come often, as we find many more projects, we will add them here. And drop a comment if you know some others.
