Sidekick hacker sentenced to home detention

At 23, Nicholas Jacobsen was sentenced to one year of home detention. He previously got some fame after breaking into the T-Mobile USA, accessed customers personal information and uncovered names and Social Security numbers of around 400 customers. Among them, yes, Paris Hilton.
Last May, the Washington Post ran an interesting write-up on his method to get inside the system.
Before gaining access to Hilton’s wireless phone account, the group had spent a year studying weaknesses in T-Mobile’s Web sites. The group member interviewed for this story had already written a simple computer program that could reset the password for any T-Mobile user whose phone number the hackers knew.
