Skype on Windows Mobile

Windows Mobile is turning into a fight club. Up to now, Windows Mobile users enjoy the Windows Live Messenger. Now, Skype is joining the party, dishing a version of its softphone dedicated to the operating system.

In order to use Skype on Windows Smartphone, callers must have a  dual-mode phone switched on WiFi mode. Free phone calls could then be made, but SMS remain charged.

From a business point of view, the move is really not a surprise. Three months after its buyout, in march 2006, Skype inked a deal with Hutchinson to land a foot on 3G mobile phones. And on late July, Skype Spain was expected to launch a Symbian-compatible version of the softphone. But Skype is eating the mobile market with a very good timing. In the summer, every softphone is moving out the Web, even Jajah a web-based VoIP system.
