Panasonic gets high

The battle for in-flight network has begun. Panasonic is the new player to announce its intention to embed broadband data communications inside planes. But Panasonic innovates by bringing in a very trendy feature: entertainment.
TV programs from regional channels to direct broadcast television satellites should be available. Panasonic also tells that you can follow live news. Impressed yet, dear readers?
The new broadband service will rely on the Pico-cell antenna to transmit both data and digital voice communications. We already saw that this emerging technology is very promising, as it uses some frequency bands that doesn’t interfere with the GPS system of the plane.
Panasonic also claimed that its new service will support the Aeromobile’s aircraft mobile phone service, and that its in-flight wireless technology will be recognized by Inmarsat satellites.
Glad you joined this market, Panasonic, but there are just two tough guys already on the place: Boeing and its Boeing Broadband (see our article); and OnAir, co-owned by Airbus (see our article).
