That was step one: Nokia announced its 770 Tablet OS release in mid-May. With VoIP capabilities and is due to provide better memory performance and a “refreshed look”; the Google Talk client, and a full-screen “finger” keyboard.
Step two: Nokia is bringing out the version 2.0 of its Maemo platform, which is Linux based and contains some useful open sourced tools for programmers, especially for those who want to develop voice-enable applications.
Nokia is progressively turning its new toy as a real computer, able to run complex and heavy applications. So let’s keep an eye on this mirrored-007 mobile phone.
UPDATE, July 1st, 2006 ― The upgrade is available now. As noticed Engadget: “Even worse, Nokia warns that ‘installed applications designed for OS 2005 will not be compatible with OS 2006 edition and will not be restored even from backup,’ so kiss your old apps goodbye if you’re planning on upgrading.”
