Meebo adds web presence

Meebo springs on dedicated services to website owners and bloggers. The multi-protocol online IM platform issues a Flash-powered widget called MeeboMe that allows blog readers to text author.
Although the “Skype Me” web presence seems to be the direct inspiration, the viral potential of MeeboMe is bigger. When SkypeMe is restricted to Skype users, MeeboMe welcomes any IM users that Meebo users can reach (AIM, Y! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, GTalk ad Jabber-compatible IM).
But if you plan to use it on eBay, a little warning. “Putting this MeeboMe client on an eBay listing page would be a policy violation,” said Hani Durzy, eBay’s spokesman, to SiliconBeat. “We are testing the inclusion of the Skype chat and/or voice communication in a small number of categories. That is the extent to which we will allow IM’ing or chat voice communication directly within a listing page at this point.”
