Be ready Skype, Jajah grabbed $2 million

Jajah grabbed some Sequoia Capital money. Jajah, based both in the Silicon Valley and in Austria, has become the second start-up in Europe to be granted by the notorious IT venture investments company, according to Alarm:Clock. The first one was Fon in Spain, with its $11 million round table a month ago.
Now the numbers: Jajah and Sequoia Capitals keep them undisclosed. But as Der Spiegel reported, the given amount should be higher than what Cisco got, that means over $2 million.
Alarm:Clock also reported this: “A VC we know well told us on Friday that he wasn’t sure at first what to make of Sequoia’s recent dealmaking in Europe. That is because he remembers a partner at Sequoia telling him that if his fund ever invested in a European venture, it would be because he was dead.” That maybe because the quickness of the deal: only 20 days to set it done.
Even if Jajah and SIPPhone (see Fresh $6 million for SIPPhone) are now more competitive, Skype is still protected by a strong buzz aura that keeps it far from its competitors. Alexa.com, which tracks the web site popularity, recently recorded a peak of popularity for the Skype web site.
Update: Om Malik and TJ blog on technology investments have picked up this new.
