The iPhone will be a big hit, says Piper Jaffray expert

There’s a slightly big difference between Zune and iPhone perception. When Microsoft rolled out the first model of its multimedia player, WiFi-enabled, it didn’t generate a ‘Wow!’ among analysts, IT observers and bloggers. Instead, many of them thought it won’t bite the Apple that much, but harm Microsoft multimedia partners.
With Apple, it’s the opposite. The phone isn’t there. But everyone already wants one. Today, Piper Jaffray consultancy, through senior analyst Gene Munster’s voice, insists on this again. “The mobile phone market represents a large potential supplement to iPod sales,” he said to MacNN. “Music-enabled phones are gaining popularity, but Apple will be the first to offer a unified solution with the design and usability of the iPod.” Note that he thinks Apple will become a real MVNO or hook up with a mobile operator, Cingular or T-Mobile.
So Apple iPhone is going to be a hit. A giant hit? Munster thinks it too: “Both the iPhone and the iTV represent initiatives that could add iPod-like growth to the Apple story. We believe 30 percent growth is realistic and would provide upside to our numbers.”
We’ll see it into action, quite soon. But stars already lines upon Apple and its iPhone.
