Google and AOL-Time Warner officials could now go eat cake. That’s official, they sealed final details of their alliance to increase ads and keep away Microsoft from building a rival ad network. But among the many clauses of the contract, one affects the current version of AOL and Google instant messengers.
AIM and Google Talk will have to speak to each other ― who cares how, they’ll have to.
This decision could imply that AIM, recently released as an open source project, would include some VoIP features and turn into a genuine voice client. AOL CEO Jonathan Miller already is ready for this move. And if this happens, the Skype’s realm will shrink a lot more. AOL shows 19.5 million members only for the United States.
