George W. Bush, the new Skyper

George W. Bush may just be a casual Internet user (for instance, he relies on “the Google” to pull up maps), he now knows what a Skype phone means. During a diplomatic trip to Estonia, the US President received one of those Philips cordless VoIP phones as a gift from his Estonian fellow.

Estonia is one of the new members of the European Union. Small, close to the Baltic freezing sea, ex-Soviet republic, but very dynamic and deeply hooked up with broadband Internet and Skype. So much that the NY Times considered Skype “the company has become a hot calling card for Estonia.” At least, it’s true now. And George Bush can do the Skype thing, back in the White House.

  • Not sure it’s a good idea to plug a phone into the network at the White House that came from an ex-Soviet republic :)

I’d be more comfortable as a citizen of the U.S. if Bush would just stick to using the secure lines…
