Four scenarios for the Apple iPhone
-

Ian Fogg, from Jupiter Research, concocted an Apple playbook for the iPhone. Instead of two or three, he found four.
- Continue licensing software to established handset vendors similar to the Motorola relationship. But the Motorola Rokr has never been a huge success.
- Create its own iPod mobile phone handset and sell via mobile operators. If rumors about a possible Cingular or T-Mobile partnership is true, this would be the scenario.
- Apple could chose to bypass current operators by launching one or more MVNOs. Some rumors hinted in that direction.
- Apple could sell its iPod mobile phone in retail. The secure option. If Apple cannot reach favorable agreement with mobile operators, or delays some plans into the mobile market, it will go this way most probably. This also could be its plans for outside the US.
See how Ian Fogg documented his scenarios.

I wonder why everyone talks about the ROKR, but no one mentions the RAZR or the SLVR - both of which have iTunes and both of which, I believe, have sold well.
I have the SLVR. It runs iTunes just fine and everyone lusts over it.
Having said that, I’d rather have the mythical iPhone.
