Customers at the Internet cafe in Cornwall, UK have been busy downloading every thing they want. They’ve got this very good reason: The Internet cafe broadband access is 100 megabits per second.
That makes the fastest Internet cafe in the world, estimated the BBC. “It would be possible to use the cafe’s computers to download in less than 15 minutes a file the equivalent size of the DVD version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, with its 19,000 illustrations, 629 audio and video clips and 100,000 articles,” said Adrian Hosford of British Telecoms.
In fact, it’s a satellite earth station. But over 80,000 people visit it each year. Its Internet cafe is connected to the BT’s global Internet protocol network, in which BT, cojointly with AT&T and Concert has invested more than 1.9 billion euros.
Cornwall seems to be the BT land. Earlier this year, the Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS has debuted an innovative a voice-activated necklace phone device, developed by BT.
