AOL Europe for sale

AOL new strategy increasingly looks like a remake of The chain saw massacre. AOL-Time Warner has decided to sell its British unit… after chopping off AOL France and AOL Germany. This means AOL is getting rid of its European divisions.
The British subsidiary is considered to serve 2.2 million customers, including 1.3 million on broadband, and is thought to be profitable. Recently, AOL UKĀ jumps almost in the triple-play bandwagon, with the introduction of a new service called AOL Talk. All national phone calls were set free whereas mobile and international calls were charged a small fee.
The Citigroup investment bank, already in charge of finding a buyer for AOL France and Germany, takes care of the sale.
