What is 21talks?

21talks is a ‘newslog’, a hybrid form between a news magazine and a weblog. Here, we’re mainly writing on voice over IP (VoIP or Internet telephony) evolution of technologies, and more and more, will glimpse into the content for mobile phone market, broadband television and hybrid mobile phones.

Of course for a certain type of reader, quirkiness, developer orientation, and community are all pluses. Many who aren’t as interested in these things might prefer read 21talks, because of these two layers.

The ‘dummy’ layer, that is chopping off the tech jargon as much as we can and illustrating tech evolution with every day examples to make news digestible even by kids. And the mixing bag layer where we try to bridge the gap between pure technology and business trends.

21talks has been founded in February 2006 by Nuno Bastei, a former tech and business journalist writing for several French daily newspapers (Le Journal du Net, Transfert), and earned three MD in economics, political sciences, and engineering.

  • Jason, the template is a small call we’ve made to Thuan Huynh, a webdesigner who’s responsible for another great web site: http://cocolico.info.

    We haven’t so far made our mind to offer it as a free download. Will you comply to some Creative Commons licenses and/or donate something for it?

  • You would find out every detail on the official website of Creative Commons. In short, some rights would be restricted while others are allowed. For instance, you could use any portion of the code only for non-commercial use. And you pay for commercial ones.

  • Ok, I see… I want it for my personel blog, I mean I will not use it for commercial use.. Can I have a chance to have the theme now?

  • Yes, you can grab the files you need. And you will be required to credit the author Thuan Huynh for his work, and subscribe to the same Creative Commons license. Just go on the CC web site to find out how to do that.

  • Is the theme still avaialbe? I am going to get the same CC license, As the owner. I too would like to be using it for a person blog. Is it still ok to to make some colour changes etc? Please contact me via email about this.

  • Adam, Sercan, don’t worry, the template will be released. Under the license Creative Commons Attribution/Non-commercial/Share-Alike. But for now, the person in charge told us he’s busy working on a new design template. But the template should be released within a week or two.
